Community First Responders work alongside the ambulance service to provide a first response to 999 emergencies within their area.
First Responders work alongside the ambulance service to provide a first response to 999 emergencies within their area. They begin life saving treatments in the minutes before an ambulance arrives.
The volunteers are trained in basic life support techniques, including the use of oxygen and defibrillators. All volunteers are trained and assessed by the ambulance service. They also attend a monthly training session with their group paramedic as well as meet up for extra practise sessions and social evenings. You need to be between 18-60 years, having a caring personality , a sense of humour, be physically fit and have a clean driving licence.
